Financial Assistance Scheme for Needy Students
Students who are experiencing financial difficulties can apply for various schemes.
 
MOE Financial Assistance Scheme
 
A) Eligibility Criteria

Student   is  a  Singapore  Citizen  and  meets  one  of  the  following conditions:

(a) The family's Gross Household Income does not exceed $2,500 per month or

(b) Per Capita Household Income (PCI) does not exceed $625*

*PCI is gross monthly household income divided by number of members in the household. E.g., household with a gross monthly income of $3,000 but 5 members will qualify, as PCI is $600.

 
B) Types Of Benefits
The  types of benefits provided to MOE FAS recipients are shown in the table below:

Exam fee 75% waiver of National Examination Fees, including mother tongue language and subjects taken at separate sittings (100% waiver for students under MCYS PAS) 
Textbooks Free textbooks and workbooks, on need basis 
School attire Free school attire, on need basis (Enhanced benefit from Feb 09) – 2 sets of uniforms, 2 sets of PE attire, 2 pairs of socks and 1 pair of shoes

Other Financial Assistance Schemes

Needy students who do not meet the MOE Financial Assistance Eligibility Criteria may still submit an application for financial assistance offered by the school and other agencies. Please approach the staff at the General Office.

 
NEU PC Plus Programme

The NEU PC Plus programme, by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) offers affordable PCs and broadband access to students and people with disabilities from low income families. Sucessful applicant can purchase a PC with free software and 3 years of free broadband and subscription at a subsidised price. To be eligible you must satisfy the following :-

  1. 1. Student must be a Singaporean or Permanent Resident
  2. 2. Gross household income shall not exceed $2,700 per month or per capita monthly gross income of household is not more than $700
  3. 3. Must be a full time student
